About this project

Vision

"A community of families and friends, committed to loving in action and in truth"

Mission

Remembering Harold’s spirit of optimism in battling osteosarcoma, and continuing efforts to bring hope to children and families battling the disease.

Who is Harold?

Harold was born on 17th January, 1997 in Singapore. He attended Anglo-Chinese School for his primary, secondary and pre-tertiary education. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2015, when he was 18. He endured the long process of chemo and radiotherapy, entering in 2016. He wasted no time reaching out to close friends from his church community, school and even going overseas to teach English to children in Timor-Leste. Due to his diagnosis, he had to split his IB examinations into multiple sessions which he managed to complete after recovery. However, there was a relapse of the cancer in 2018, spreading to other parts of his body. It is saddening that he had to leave us on the 13th June, 2018. click here for a Q&A that Harold did with Crutch4Sarcoma, detailing his journey.

How this website came to be

After Harold’s passing, a few of Harold’s friends from ACS (Independent) decided to get together and reflect on how Harold has been an inspiration for us. After consultation with his family, we decided to setup this website to collect the stories of Harold’s journey with cancer, and the impact he has left in many of us. There were many lessons that Harold taught us in his spirited life. We hope that this website might be able to bring back happy recollections for those who knew Harold, and give inspiration for those who might be suffering from the debilitating effects of sarcoma, or supporting another one suffering from cancer.
